And we skirt the shadowed outline
of the frozen wood,
moving toward a light
which casteth shadows not.
Snow covers them tonight.

they delved forever deeper
into the mines of minds,
deeper than
their pre-daters
could themselves survive

And she responds to the breeze
gently, almost with a practiced ease
that guides her words to
nestle in my faulty memory
when all the rest becomes a blur
a hazy bubble
in which I watched the world burn

The starless sky forever waits,
its most mesmerizing traits
all lost in manufactured smog,
Day or Night the watch decides
The watch decides, the watch decides
synchronized
to the clocks inside.
Hidden from light, from sun
how can they tell the time?

This place I've never been
so full of memories
